The Amplify Lead application is now open
Bring your experience, your perspective, and your willingness to learn. Amplify Leads guide small groups through the program with training and support built in at every stage, so you’re never doing it alone. You are *more* than enough. Apply today.
Key dates:
- Applications are due by November 6, 2026. Early applications are strongly encouraged and will receive priority scheduling for interviews.
- Finalists will be interviewed November 30-December 4, 2026.
- Selection decisions will be announced no later than December 11, 2026.
Before you apply:
- One application, two paths to becoming an Amplify Lead:
- Past Amplify participant? If you have already completed the Amplify program, you may apply to serve as a 2027 Amplify Lead.
- New to Amplify? If you have not completed the Amplify program, you will be invited to participate in the 2027 program as an Amplify Apprentice at no charge. The following year, you will serve as a 2028 Amplify Lead. Please click here for more information about the Amplify Apprentice path.
- Past Amplify participant? If you have already completed the Amplify program, you may apply to serve as a 2027 Amplify Lead.
- Amplify Leads must participate in every element of the program. Please review the Amplify calendar to ensure you are available.
- There is a $399 registration fee for Amplify Leads (due January 29, 2027). While limited scholarships are available, please confirm funding from your institution prior to applying.
Application questions:
The application requires short-essay responses of no more than 250 words each. The essay questions are included below. It is recommended that you type and save your responses in a Word document prior to starting the application.
*IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT AI USAGE: AI can be a helpful tool, but it cannot capture the experiences, perspectives, and qualities that make you uniquely you. If you choose to use AI, please do so sparingly. We would rather read a brief, authentic response in your own voice than a polished essay written primarily by an algorithm.
1. Share your top three reasons for wanting to serve as an Amplify Lead.
2. Describe the personal characteristics, dimensions of diversity, and/or life experiences that you would bring to the Amplify program.
3. Explain the ways in which you have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion professionally and/or personally.
4. Describe your experience with group facilitation, teaching, training, and/or presenting.
5. Feminist theorist Dr. Marilyn Frye uses a birdcage as a metaphor for oppression with the individual wires representing the gender barriers people face in the world. She warns against looking microscopically at the individual wires, which on their own may not appear insurmountable. Rather, she encourages people to view them macroscopically, to see how the wires intertwine to create a birdcage, restricting and restraining people solely because of their gender.
